RIVER DOLPHINS

Our pilot program is created for River Dolphins; these animals had many treats in the past year. There are many things that need to be done by specialists and local communities before we face a worst scenario for River Dolphins. Many have died and basic help would have made a difference.

SOLUTION.

Our programs are designed to support specific species; private and corporate sponsors give their support annually to different species in need. Our efforts go from conservation, supporting and reviewing the impact of national laws and practices, to rescue and communities’ education.

WHAT IS THE REAL IMPACT OF MY DONATION?

Corporate Donations above 10 000 USD go to specific programs for conservation and rescue, executed by specialists in each region. WALF evaluates and oversees results through a directive team assigned; a member of the donor corporation may participate in the result evaluation of each year’s program.
Smaller donations are directed mainly to educational campaigns in communities that affect directly or indirectly river dolphins’ life’s. Conservation can be done also by educating, considering one dolphin may bring around 20 to 30 Thousand Dollars in tourism in the Amazons region; fishers need to know that among other facts before they keep threatening their lives.

LETS SAVE LIVES AND AVOID DOG ABANDONMENT

PROBLEM

There are more that 5 million dogs in shelters today, while part of them die, more people buy dogs from other sources. Shelters are part of the problem.

SOLUTION.

Create consciousness in people to find new homes for their dogs instead on abandoning them.

WHAT IS THE REAL IMPACT OF MY DONATION?

Our team is formed with voluntaries and interns, help them help, your donation means a lot. Each dollar donated for this campaign has a great impact since every cent of that dollar is used to promote this campaign through messages that reach many people, one message can save a live so one dollar could save many lives.

NO MORE ANIMALS IN CIRCUSES

PROBLEM

Animal mistreatment in circuses is not news to anyone today; the terrible conditions and mistreatment have caused suffering and deaths that are hidden from public. On 2010 Bolivia was the first country to approve a law that prohibits the use of animals in circuses, that has set the beginning of a new reality for the next generations, respect for animals will be a new item in many countries legislation from now on.

SOLUTION.

“I don’t go to Circuses with Animals” is the name of WALF’s campaign that focuses on reducing the participation and monetary support from spectators to these institutions that are responsible for animal mistreatment and traffic in many cases. We want to create an international consciousness to see legislations in other countries supporting animal respect and wellbeing.
WHAT IS THE REAL IMPACT OF MY DONATION?
Each dollar donated for this campaign has a great impact since every cent of that dollar is used to promote this campaign through messages that reach many people. Our team is formed with voluntaries and interns, help them help, your donation means a lot.

Considering from our experience one dollar can create many messages that may impact around 27 people, the real impact of 27 people times 40USD per circus ticket adds up to 1080USD less for a circus in the United States, that is without counting these people’s families, in Latin America the impact is similar. Also consider that each of those 27 people will probably pass this value on to their kids, so that animals respect will be a value sustained in the next generations.

Title:

Thought for the Day

"We must fight against the spirit of unconscious cruelty with which we treat the animals. Animals suffer as much as we do. True humanity does not allow us to impose such sufferings on them. It is our duty to make the whole world recognize it. Until we extend our circle of compassion to all living things, humanity will not find peace" -Albert Schweitzer
